BlackRock And MARA Caught Nyerok Bitcoin When The Price Declined

JAKARTA - The king of crypto assets, Bitcoin, has constantly attracted the interest of big companies. This time, the world's largest asset manager, BlackRock, reportedly stabbed Bitcoin at a time its price slumped below US$100,000 a few days ago. Not only that, Bitcoin mining company MARA Holdings is also doing the same thing.

Based on data from Coinspeaker, a number of large institutions such as BlackRock and MARA Holdings, along with big investors aka whale, bought nearly 10,000 Bitcoins on 5 and 6 December 2024. At that time the price of Bitcoin slumped after breaking into its new ATH. They took advantage of the opportunity when the price of BTC fell to 92,957 US dollars (Rp1.47 billion).

BlackRock itself was recorded to have made its biggest purchase by depositing funds to buy 7,750 Bitcoins. With this transaction, BlackRock's total Bitcoin ownership now stands at around 48.9 billion US dollars (Rp773 trillion). This massive purchase occurred when demand for Bitcoin's exchange-traded fund (ETF) shares increased.

Thomas Fahrer, founder of the Apollo crypto market firm, said that the Bitcoin ETF BlackRock is "ETF's fastest growing in history." BlackRock's success in accumulating Bitcoin shows their great trust in this crypto asset's long-term potential.

In addition to BlackRock, MARA Holdings, the Bitcoin mining company, also took part in the massive acquisition of Bitcoin. Between December 5 and 6, MARA bought 1,423 Bitcoins for a total cost of around US$ 139.5 million (Rp2.21 trillion). After this purchase, MARA's Bitcoin reserves reached 22,108 BTC, valued at around US$2.17 billion (Rp34.5 trillion), with an increase of 162% compared to last month.

It didn't stop there, crypto whales also contributed to Bitcoin when the price slumped. The unidentified whale account also bought 600 Bitcoins when the price fell. This transaction is estimated to cost around 58.9 million US dollars (Rp933.5 billion).

In addition, several other companies, such as Scientific Semler, have also begun adopting Bitcoin's accumulated strategy. Semler recently bought 303 Bitcoins on December 4, bringing their total holdings to 1,873 BTC.
