Lexus Files 'HZ' Trademark, Electric SUV Under RZ?

JAKARTA - On various occasions, Toyota emphasized that it wants to present more environmentally friendly vehicles in the future, including pure electric vehicles (EVs). This plan is also followed by his luxury brand, Lexus.

The Japanese manufacturer is reported to have applied for a trademark in Europe for an EV model name from the Lexus brand. The names consist of HZ300e, HZ450e, and HZ550e, which refer to similar models with three different versions.

Reporting from Carscoops, Monday, November 20, this is evidenced by a company that submitted a trademark application through the European Union's Intellectual Property Office, showing the names of the three models.

This is not the first time they have filed a trademark for their future EV. Previously, Lexus also proposed the names TZ450e and TZ550e which led to speculation that it was a three-line electric SUV or positioned above the RZ model.

For the HZ model, it is possible that this car is an SUV that will be positioned under the RZ or is one of the entry-level EV lines from Lexus. Unfortunately, the manufacturer is still silent to provide further information.

The manufacturer with the 'L' logo has a vision to expand EV ranks in 2030 as well as smooth out the company's plans to become an electric vehicle brand in 2035.

As is known, Lexus has launched the next generation EV by presenting the LF-ZC concept on the 2023 Japan Mobility Show last October. Measuring a sedan, this concept model is a potential challenger for Tesla Model 3 or BMW i4 in premium electrification.

Currently, the brand only sells two EV models, namely RZ 450e and UX300e globally. For RZ 450e, this car is priced at IDR 2.287 billion and UX 300e is worth IDR 1.24 billion in the Indonesian market.
