King Charles III Launches Food Project To Celebrate 75th Anniversary
JAKARTA - King of England Charles III launched a new scheme to tackle food poverty and help reduce millions of tons of wasted food, while celebrating his 75th birthday Tuesday.
The program, which has a mission to stop hunger, is called the 'Coronation Food Project'. King Charles III himself spent more than five decades campaigning for environmental issues and supporting the sustainable economy.
"Food needs are a real and urgent problem like food waste. If a way can be found to bridge the gap between the two, then it will solve two problems at once," King Charles wrote in an article for "Big Issue".
It said there were 14 million people in England who faced food insecurity. King Charles II said, "too many families and individuals don't get nutritious food, because of the pressures of living costs that have caused many people to suffer".
"To mark my 75th anniversary of Coronation, I cannot ask for a bigger reward than the Coronation Food Project which creates an eternal legacy to help others and help the planet," he wrote.
Together with his wife, Queen Camilla, King Charles III visited a food distribution center in central England, where staff and volunteers sang the festive "Happy Birthday" song for him.
