West Sumatra Creative Fest Ajang Awakens Creative Economy And Tourism Sector
JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative of West Sumatra (West Sumatra) in collaboration with the local provincial government seeks to stimulate the creative economy and tourism sector in the area through the West Sumatra Creative Fest which will be held 1-3 December 2023.
"The West Sumatra Creative Fest aims to revive the tourism sector and the creative economy in the West Sumatra region," said Head of BI West Sumatra Representative Endang Kurnia Saputra as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 7.
The effort to revive the creative economy and the tourism sector is also in line with the Visit Beautiful West Sumatra (VBWS) program.
The former Deputy Head of Bank Indonesia Jakarta Representative said that currently many young people trade in the style of millennials or adjust the current context.
This method is considered by BI to be quite strategic in attracting consumers.
"The products they sell are good but unfortunately not many people know. Therefore, West Sumatra Creative Fest 2023 will show it," he said.
Previously, this activity was named Minang Craft.
However, in 2023, the West Sumatra Representative BI will replace it to the West Sumatra Creative Fest.
The reason is to promote and stimulate the creative economy and tourism is more inclusive.
Moreover, West Sumatra Province is filled with many ethnic groups and cultures.
West Sumatra's hope of Creative Fest not only displays Minangkabau products, but also handicrafts from the Batak ethnicity, Java, Sundanese, Malay, Nias and others.
