KPK Council Asked Not To Specialize Firli Bahuri Regarding Allegations Of Meeting With SYL

Attorney for the former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Djamaluddin Koedoeboen asked the Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) not to privilege KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri. Because, everyone has the same position in the eyes of the law.

"I don't think it's allowed (there to be privileges, ed). Everyone is the same, everyone has the same legal position," said Djamaluddin to reporters at the KPK's Red and White House, South Jakarta, Thursday, November 2.

Djamaluddin reminded the KPK Council to be formed to oversee the performance of the anti-corruption agency employees. So, they were asked to show their spurs.

One of them is to thoroughly investigate the alleged meeting between Firli and his client. Dewas KPK also has the vulnerability to be able to find a fact and the truth, because the public has the right to know," he stressed.

Then, Djamaluddin also hopes that the Polda Metro Jaya will handle allegations that SYL's extortion could run objectively. Thus, the case that eventually dragged Firli could be resolved.

"We hope that all parties are objective, both the KPK Council and the Polda Metro Jaya, as well as the Criminal Investigation Unit. We are sure that they must have integrity which is currently being approved by the public regarding that, and we'll just have to wait," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK Council clarified the KPK leadership, namely Nurul Ghufron, Johanis Tanak and Alexander Marwata. Of the three, they were investigated about the alleged extortion related to the handling of the alleged corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture.

Meanwhile, Firli has not been investigated until now because he asked for a reschedule on November 8. Chairman of the KPK Supervisory Board, Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean, said there had been no changes.

"There has been no update yet, he said it's the 8th (November, ed). So it hasn't been (checked, red) yet," said Tumpak to reporters at the ACLC building, Rasuna Said, Jakarta, Tuesday, October 31.

Tumpak said that his party would not rush to examine Firli. "(Why not speed it up because, red) the investigation is still ongoing at the regional police there," he said.

"It doesn't matter, we don't chase. It's normal," continued Tumpak.
