Bakamla RI Attends 15th International Conference On The South China Sea, This Is What They Discussed
JAKARTA - Bakamla RI attended the 15th International Conference on the South China Sea meeting with the theme Luminate The Gray, Light Up The Green. The activity was held by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV), at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Friday 27 October.
The meeting aims to discuss the best strategy to resolve the South China Sea conflict from various aspects attended by Diplomats, Academics, and Practitioners who have links to the South China Sea, both from regional and foreign countries.
On this occasion, Bakamla RI gave an explanation regarding the Coast Guard Roles Diplomacy in South East Asia delivered by the Policy Analyst of the Indonesian Bakamla Madya Expert Colonel Bakamla Hudiansyah Is Nursal, SH, MILR in his presentation, he said that the Coast Guard in Southeast Asia had strong bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
In addition, he also said that ASEAN has a discussion forum on security in the territorial waters of the area that has been running for 2 years, named the ASEAN Coast Guard Forum. This forum can be used as a medium of cooperation to make sea security strong between law enforcers in the Southeast Asian Sea.

Furthermore, it was also conveyed the best practice of cooperation between Coast Guard in Southeast Asia by providing examples of collaboration between Bakamla RI and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) when taking action against Iranian-flagged ship MT. Arman 114 who was carrying out cargo transfer or transhipment activities in Indonesia's Exclusive Economic Zone area. Also, cooperation in the context of implementing the MoU Common Guidelines between Indonesia and Malaysia.
With this meeting, the Narasources, including the Daari Bakamla, hope that in the future the Coast Guard can play a more role in resolving conflicts that occur in Southeast Asia by prioritizing cooperation and collaboration between Coast Guards in the region.
