Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu: If Hezbollah Decides To Join The War, They Make Mistakes And The Impact Is Crushing

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a firm warning to the Hezbollah militant group amid escalating clashes on the border with Lebanon, as he met his military on the northern border.

"If Hezbollah decides to join the war, it will be a long Second Lebanon War," Prime Minister Netanyahu said, according to his office, referring to the Israeli war with Lebanon in 2006.

"They will make mistakes in their lives. We will attack them with forces they cannot even imagine and their impact on them and the Lebanese country will be devastating," said PM Netanyahu.

Meanwhile, to his soldiers, PM Netanyahu said they were struggling and understanding the sadness caused by the loss of life.

"I know you've lost friends, and it's a very difficult thing, but we're in the struggle of our lives, the struggle for our homes. It's not too much, it's not too much, that's this war. It's killing or killing, and they have to be killed," said PM Netanyahu.

"I can't tell you now whether Hezbollah will decide to enter the (Gaza) war completely," he continued.

Earlier the Israeli military said there had been a significant increase in escalation in its clashes with the Hezbollah group in recent days.

IDF spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus told CNN Thursday that Hezbollah had fired a number of anti-tank missiles from Lebanon into Israel, targeting military and civilian positions and causing casualties.

"What Hezbollah is currently doing is dragging Lebanon into a conflict that is not his business, and of course it will not be profitable," said Lieutenant Colonel Conricus.

Lieutenant Colonel Conricus added that Hezbollah had also tried to infiltrate Israel, but the IDF thwarted the attempt. Since the Hamas attack on October 7, Hezbollah and Israel have been involved in shooting each other at the border almost every day.
