Official! Toyota And Lexus Adopt Tesla Charging System Starting 2025
Joining several competing manufacturers, Toyota announced that it had reached an agreement with Tesla for the adoption of the North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging system for Toyota Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) vehicles starting in 2025.
This step is in line with the company's vision of implementing an electrification strategy, so that both Toyota and Lexus vehicles have access to the use of 12,000 Tesla Superchargers in North America.
Written on the company's official website, Thursday, October 19, electric vehicles from both brands will be able to access NACS starting in 2025, including electrified cars assembled at the Kentucky Toyota Motor Manufacturing (TMMK), USA.
Meanwhile, for users with BEV Toyota and Lexus who are still adopting the Combined Charging System (CCS), they can access this system using an adapter connected to NACS.
With NACS, customers will have access to more charging options, especially DC fast chargers, thus giving them more power faster to travel long distances.
This decision makes Toyota and Lexus join the list of manufacturers who have access to Tesla charging, from Honda, BMW, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Ford, GM, Rivian, Jaguar, Fisker, Kia, Hyundai, and Genesis.
