KPK Suspects SYL Corruption Money Will Flow To NasDem, Deputy: That's Disaster Assistance

The NasDem Party is furious at accusations by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) which suspects that the money from the corruption of former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL has flowed to the party. Deputy Chairperson of the NasDem Party Ahmad Ali emphasized that the allegation was not true.

However, Ali admitted that if there was assistance conveyed by Syahrul in his capacity not as a minister but as a cadre. Namely assistance and donations for disaster victims. "What I remember was during the pandemic season, then there was social work and Mr. Syahrul then contributed to the basic food packages. As far as I remember it was an aid when a disaster occurred in one of the regions, Mr. Syahrul contributed Rp. 20 million. Of course, in the assistance, the NasDem Party never knew where the source came from," said Ahmad Ali when contacted, Saturday, October 14. "As far as I know, from some information, Mr. SYL has helped work. So, when there was social work, Syahrul contributed several packages, several hundred or 1,000 food packages distributed in the Thousand Islands. Well, does this come from corruption money? Does this come from CSR companies from his partners? We don't know," he explained. Ali assessed that it was already the KPK's obligation to conduct an investigation into institutions or people suspected of receiving money flow from the results of acts of corruption. So according to Ali, the case that ensnared NasDem cadrers could become clear and get legal certainty.

"If the KPK institution has announced it openly, this is tantamount to influencing public opinion, it is affecting public opinion, where this year we are entering the political year," said Ali.

The member of Commission III of the DPR hopes that the KPK will not make a fuss. Ali also appealed to the anti-corruption agency not to convey things that are not certain about the truth.

"So in order to avoid a commotion, whatever happens, there will be various responses, and this is a political year. If NasDem thinks something is normal, but the public cannot prohibit thinking like that, right," he concluded. Alexander said the number flowing to the party created by Surya Paloh was still being calculated. "KPK will continue to explore," he said.

Apart from flowing to the NasDem party, Syahrul is suspected of using the money he extorted from his employees for various personal interests.

Among them are to pay credit card installments, installments for the purchase of Toyota Alphard cars, personal home repairs, plane tickets for families, to facial treatment and care for families whose value reaches billions of rupiah.
