Israel-Palestinian Heatup, Ensure The Safety Of All WINs!
JAKARTA - The Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, highlighted the heating up of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which in the last few days has heated up and returned to attack each other. He stressed that the Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) must ensure the safety of Indonesian citizens (WNI).
"The government must ensure that our citizens who are there are safe, do not lack basic materials. Because during the war, basic needs are very difficult to obtain. The state must be present to provide assistance as soon as possible," said Puan, Monday, October 9.
With Indonesian citizens around the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Puan said the Foreign Ministry must monitor the development of the situation in the conflict area and be ready to evacuate if necessary to protect Indonesian citizens in the region.
"If possible and necessary, the Government must take responsive steps with efforts to evacuate our citizens so that they do not become victims of war," said the first woman to serve as chairman of the DPR RI.
Puan also expressed concern with what was experienced by the victims as a result of attacking each other between the Hamas militant group and Israel. He considered that Indonesia must take proactive steps in realizing Israeli-Palestinian peace.
Moreover, the current conflict situation is said to be quite large and the conditions are more tense than previous attacks.

"Indonesia must express its attitude to ask for the cessation of violence from the escalation of the conflict between Palestine and Israel. This is in order to avoid the increasing number of humanitarian casualties which are increasing day by day," explained Puan.
The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture also encouraged Indonesia to mediate between the two countries so that war was stopped. The government is also said to need to call for the importance of peace with the concept of two sovereign countries that coexist.
The concept is in accordance with the long-recognized basis as a path to a fair settlement. We need to convey that the two countries prioritize dialogue elements to cool the situation there and continue to speak out to the world to support Palestinian independence," he said.
"Because war cannot be justified in any aspect, citizens will continue to be victims," continued Puan.
The DPR also considers that efforts are needed to encourage other countries to continue to voice peace in Palestine. Puan said Indonesia must show an active free international political stance in accordance with the constitutional mandate.
Indonesia also needs to remind that no single country supports the war between Israel and Palestine continues. Moreover, the superpowers have great military power," said Bung Karno's grandson.
Puan hopes that Indonesia can become a country that moves the world to realize Palestinian independence. Because according to him, the international community seems to allow continuous war to occur there.
"There is no sign of hope for the establishment of a Palestinian state that has been promised by the international community. Indonesia must take a role in encouraging other countries to give independence to the Palestinian people," concluded Puan.
