Failed To Land On The Moon, Russia Blames Luna-25 Computer Machine
JAKARTA - Russia failed to launch the Luna-25 spacecraft on August 19, 2023. The plane, which was supposed to arrive that month, crashed and hit the lunar surface in preparation for landing.
Russia's Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) recently said that the second month of mission since 1976 failed because the computer engine in Luna-25 received the wrong command while maneuvering.
Luna-25 failed to turn on the accelerometer inside the BIUS-L device. As a result of this failure, the on-board control did not receive any signal from the BIUS-L. The plane also experienced a state of emergency because the main engine was on 43 seconds longer than it should have been.
With the various circumstances that occurred at that time, the plane could not record the speed needed and could not turn off the propulsion system on time. As a result, the entire system was turned off and the Luna-25 failed to land perfectly.

On August 31, the United States Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) shared a possible location where the Luna-25 crashed. The plane is expected to crash on the inner edge of the steep 10-meter Pontécoulant G crater.
Luna-25 fell quite far from the location determined by Roscosmos. Reportedly, the inner edge of the Pontécoulant G crater is 400 kilometers from the planned location.
Despite failing to explore the moon on the Luna-25 plane, Roscosmos has not given up. The Russian agency plans to continue the program the following month. Head of Roscosmos, quoted fromSpace, said, "We are considering the possibility of shifting the Luna-26 and Luna-27 missions to the left to get the results we need as soon as possible."
