KTO Suggests Indonesian Tourists Visit Unique Tourist Destinations When Visiting South Korea

JAKARTA - It is undeniable that the influence of K-Pop and K-Drama has made Indonesians choose South Korea as one of the tourist destinations they want to visit.

However, the pandemic situation, which covered the world in 2020, had hampered those who wanted to visit the Ginseng Country.

After the world recovered from the pandemic, the wave of tourists from Indonesia to South Korea gradually increased. In the first half of 2023, Indonesia's number of incentive tourists to Korea was recorded at 8 thousand people or recovered around 62 percent compared to the first half of 2019, which amounted to 13 thousand people.

In an effort to restore interest in Indonesian tourists to South Korea, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) also held a Korea MICE Roadshow last September atMINA Midplaza Jakarta.

"This KTO annual event aims to promote MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, & Exhibition) Korea tourism to travel agents, corporate and media in Indonesia in the hope of attracting Indonesian groups of meetings and incentives to Korea," said Hani, MICE Manager of KTO Jakarta in a statement last week.

"Through this event, it is hoped that the number of Indonesian incentive tourists to Korea in 2023 can reach the numbers before the pandemic," he continued.

The event also brought in around 23 MICE business players from various regions in South Korea such as Seoul, Busan, Gangwon and North Jeolla Provinces to promote MICE destinations, facilities, and uniqueness in their regions.

Previously, Kim Jang Sil as CEO of KTO, during his working visit to Jakarta also stated that South Korea had developed its tourist destination to provide new experiences for tourists.

"Korea is not as big as Indonesia, but each region has its own culture. The various tourism content and storytelling are unique in each region, so visitors can feel new things wherever visitors visit," said Kim Jang Sil.

Instead of recommending several areas, I suggest tourists to visit 100 Must-Visit Tourist Spots of Korea in 2023-2024. KTO has chosen a place carefully taking into account conditions such as tourism and infrastructure trends, places that can be visited throughout Korea in four seasons, popular drama shooting areas, and places that cannot be seen in other countries," he concluded.
