President Jokowi: The Carbon Exchange Is Indonesia's Contribution To The Climate Change Crisis
JAKARTA President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) today officially launched the Indonesian Carbon Exchange organized by the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).
In his speech, Jokowi revealed that the Indonesian Carbon Exchange is an environmental mitigation step as well as opening up greater economic potential.
"This is one of Indonesia's real contributions to fighting with the world against the crisis due to climate change," he said in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 26.
According to him, the results of carbon trading are useful for investment in efforts to protect the environment, especially reducing carbon emissions.
"Thanks to OJK, IDX and all those related to the launch of the first Carbon Exchange in Indonesia," he said.
The President explained that the development of the Indonesian economy in the future will be directed at transformation in the strategic sector by prioritizing green principles.
"With great carbon potential, we must be optimistic that Indonesia can become the world's carbon axis while consistently building and maintaining the carbon ecosystem in the country," he said.
To note, the Carbon Exchange was released based on the stipulation by the Financial Services Authority. The Carbon Exchange Administrators' business license has been granted to the IDX by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) through Decree number KEP-77/D.04/2023 on September 18, 2023.

The inauguration of the Indonesian Carbon Exchange was carried out at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Building in Jakarta, Tuesday.
The event was attended by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar, Chairman of Commission XI DPR RI Kahar Muzakir, Chairman of Commission IV DPR RI Sudin, and Chairman of Commission VI DPR RI Faizol Riza and the Board of Commissioners of OJK.
