Initial Filling Begins, Sepaku Semoi Dam Supplys Baku Water At IKN Until 2030
JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono accompanied President Jokowi to carry out initial filling or impressioning at the Sepaku Dam, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan Province, Thursday, September 21.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the construction of the Sepaku Semoi Dam functions to provide raw water in the IKN area with a capacity of 2,000 liters per second and for Balikpapan it is 500 liters per second.
"With the Sepaku Semoi Dam, the provision of IKN raw water is still sufficient until 2030. In the future, we will also add it by building the Batu Lepek Dam and Jalongu Dam," said Basuki in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, September 22.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Water Resources at the Ministry of PUPR Bob Arthur Lombgia said that currently the physical progress of the Sepaku Semoi Dam construction has reached 97 percent.

Bob assessed that initial filling can be done because the dam has received a recommendation from the Dam Security Commission.
"Indeed, there are still 3 percent of jobs left for finishing, but according to recommendations from the Dam Security Commission (KKB), the Sepaku Semoi Dam can already be done initial filling or impressioning because it has met the requirements," he said.
In addition, the Sepaku Semoi Dam is expected to be completed in December 2023.
