Meratus Do This To Maintain The Sustainability Of Indonesian Forests
JAKARTA - As an effort to support environmental conservation, Meratus as a company of Logistics and Maritime Integrators, also supports the planting of 1,000 mangrove seeds held by the East Java Go Forest (East Java).
This action was carried out in Sontoh Laut, Aserowo, Surabaya. Participation in this action is open to the general public, including students, environmental activists, and individuals who care about nature's sustainability.
Chairman of the Meratus Foundation, Angelika Menaro, said that Meratus' support in this mangrove planting action is clear evidence that the logistics and maritime sectors can also contribute positively in maintaining environmental sustainability.
"This 1000 mangrove planting action is not only about planting trees, but also about raising awareness of the need to protect Indonesian forests," Angelika said in a written statement, quoted on Thursday, September 7.
Angelika added that preserving mangrove forests is an investment in the future that will have a long-term impact on coastal ecosystems and also for people who depend on these natural resources.
According to him, by involving various levels of society, it is hoped that messages about the importance of the mangrove ecosystem and the community's responsibility to protect it can spread more widely.
"Hopefully this action will inspire more parties to be involved in the preservation of Indonesian nature," he added.

Previously, in February, Meratus launched an Earth Squad program that initiated a variety of simple but expected actions that could have a major impact on the environment, one of which is that customers can calculate directly the carbon emissions produced in each cargo shipment.
Not only calculating the carbon footprint, this program also invites Meratus customers to be able to mitigate their carbon footprint in various choices, such as mangrove planting and forest reforestation.
