West Kalimantan BKSDA Releases Owa Kalimantan Results Of Public Submission In Ketapang
PONTIANAK - Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) of West Kalimantan (Kalbar) Region Conservation Section (SKW) I Ketapang supported by Gemilang Makmur Subur conducted the release of one individual Owa Kalimantan (hylobates sp) resulting from the delivery of the community. "This released organization is an animal result of the delivery of the community of Sampit Village, Delta Pawan District, Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan, three months ago," said Head of Section of Conservation Region I Ketapang Balai KSDA Kalbar Birawa quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday 6 September. He explained that at the beginning the handover was made to the West Kalimantan KSDA Center Section Conservation Region I Ketapang, the Owa was in poor condition, so it was necessary to carry out rehabilitation before it was carried out by release. However, after undergoing the rehabilitation process by the West Kalimantan KSDA Center, it was supported by the Ketapang Regency Animal Health Office for less than three months. "The condition of the Owa from day to day shows increasingly positive results as shown by the return of wild nature and high appetite, finally ready to be released into the wild," he said. The release was carried out in the High Conservation Value Area (HCV) Gemilang Makmur Subur which administratively entered the area of Sumberan Village, Nanga Tayap District, Ketapang Regency. The selection of the HCV area of PT. Gemilang Makmur Subur area as the location of release, because from the results of the survey of potential feed and habitat suitability carried out, the location corresponds to the habitat type of Owa Kalimantan. This is corroborated by the results of reports of monitoring of biodiversity Gemil Makmur Subur which states that at that location there was found a wild Vega. While from the social side, the location of release is known to be far from the settlement of the population, so that it can minimize the potential for social pressure/distribution. "We convey our appreciation and gratitude to all parties who have helped in the release process, starting from the beginning until the successful release. We hope that the community will be aware of protecting illegal wildlife and participating
