Blue Beeple Moves Barbie From Box Office This Week
JAKARTA - The Blue Beeple film managed to shift Barbie from the first position in the box office this week. Entering the fifth week of air, Barbie had to step down from being replaced by the latest film from the DC universe.
Launching Indiewire, the Blue Beeple film made 25.4 million US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 389 billion. But that figure also made Blue Beeple the lowest opening film in DC's first broadcast week.
On the other hand, Blue Beeple beat several films that aired in the same week, one of which was Strays who earned 8.3 million US dollars. While Barbie, although having to drop from first place, still has the largest cinema income.
Blue Beeple's presence is also targeted at the Latin market considering it is DC's first Latin superhero.
Blue Beeple tells of Jaime Reyes (Xolo Mariduemen) a 22-year-old man who is frustrated at not getting a job after graduating from college. He is also faced with his family's declining financial condition.

Angel Manuel Soto as the director promoted himself after the actors and writers went on a SAG-AFTRA strike.
"If it's for something shallow, stupid, then I'll be angry. But in reality our writers and actors are fighting for something legitimate and they are on the right side of history," said Soto.
"And it's true, the timing is not right, why didn't this (action strike) happen a month later so we could have time? But on the other hand, I feel like this is happening today because it really has to happen today," he continued.
And I hope our actors are treated fairly, our writers too, and they are paid according to their work. If that happens, then this will guarantee us a few years to come for the amazing story to be shared," he said.
