SRS Survey: PDIP Electability, PKB-Gerindra Superior In East Java, NasDem-Democrat Far Behind

SURABAYA - The Surabaya Research Syndicate Institute (SRS) explained the results of its survey by mentioning three political parties in East Java, namely the PDI-P, the National Awakening Party (PKB), and Gerindra with the highest electability.

SRS Research Director Edwin Abdul said, in the survey, PDIP was superior with 21.8 percent electability, PKB was in second place with 18.5 percent and followed by Gerindra with a percentage of 16.7 percent.

"The top PDIP, followed by PKB, and Gerindra in third place," said Edwin as quoted by ANTARA, Seras, August 15.

Nevertheless, Edwin stated that the PDI-P and PKB positions in the top two were still not safe, because Gerindra had the potential to push up the issue of electability in East Java.

"Gerindra's development in East Java has the potential to disturb PKB and PDIP, the 2019 Gerindra election has reached 11.2 percent and today its electabikitas is 16.7 percent," he said.

According to him, Gerindra's potential for overtaking the PDI-P and PKB was due to having the opportunity to withdraw votes from Nahdliyin's voter niche.

"The number of cadres from Nahdliyin representations, such as Anwar Sadad in Gerindra. Although the main factor is that Gerindra has increased in East Java as well as the electoral effect of Prabowo which continues to rise on Earth Majapahit. Gerindra has now entered the top party in East Java," he said.

In addition, Gerindra's potential outperforms the electability of the PDI-P and PKB due to the existence of a margin of error factor.

"It is still within the margin of error limit, and has the potential to change positions between the top 3 parties," he said.

The SRS survey was conducted from August 2 to 11, 2023 in 38 districts and cities of East Java by taking 1,000 respondents.

The sampling method is carried out with multistage random sampling with a margin of error of 3.1 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent. The selected respondents consisted of 50 percent of men and 50 percent of women with a random quality control of 20 percent. SRS is a member of the Indonesian Public Opinion Survey Association (ASOPI).
