KPK Warning To Young People: Directly Reject Money Politics At First Chance

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nurul Ghufron asked young people to reject money politics. Their votes, which reach 60 percent in 2024, should not lead to inappropriate candidates.

"Young people should not be tempted by money politics, reject them at the first opportunity. The reason is, one youth vote can determine the future of the nation for the next five years", Ghufron said in a written statement, Tuesday, August 8.

Ghufron said that young people are expected to be active and maintain their integrity. In addition, they are expected to have the courage to report suspected corruption to the KPK.

Young people are reminded to have an important role in eradicating corruption. Moreover, from 2020 to 2035 Indonesia will face a demographic bonus which means they dominate.

"Once again, only in the condition of a nation free from corruption, that your capacities and abilities will be valued and given a portion", said Ghufron.

"But on the other hand, when the nation is increasingly corrupt, the contents of the bag are number one. Is this a nation that will aspire and prosper? Of course not", he continued.

Complementing Ghufron's statement, KPK Deputy for Education and Community Participation Wawan Wardiana also reminded young people that they must play a role in maintaining honest politics with integrity. There are two capitals, one of which is honesty.

"In order to prevent moral degradation due to corrupt behavior, it is hoped that this youth involvement can elect leaders who are honest, fair, have integrity and have no corrupt intentions", concluded Wawan.
