NIU SQi Electric Scooter Wins Red Dot Best Of The Best 2023 Award

JAKARTA - NIU SQi, an electric motorcycle available in China, won the prestigious Red Dot Best of the Best 2023 award. This prestigious award is given to products that are considered the best design in the world.

The Niu design team claims that their electric vehicle is designed by paying attention to user needs, with the aim of providing a more convenient way to get around the city. This scooter combines aspects of e-bikes and e-mopeds but takes visual inspiration from motorcycles.

During the design process, the NIU design team strives to redefine traditional motor layouts and find a balance between conveniences before minor engineering. The main issue is optimizing the center of gravity for a comfortable journey while allowing rapid battery replacement.

SQi stands out with a striking frame, made of ultra-light magnesium alloys printed for stiffness and resilience over the corrosion. The total weight is less than fifty-five kilograms. The battery component can also be opened from the side enabling easy switching access, while the lighting system displays eye-catching halo headlights that appear to float in front of the handlebar.

"SQi is not just a vehicle - it's a revolution. It's a unique blending between e-bike and e-moped, but racing like a motorbike," said Sieghart Michielsen, NIU Technologies International Director, quoted from The Pack, August 6.

The jury praised SQi's futuristic design for creating a trend that is likely to remain relevant over the years. They are also impressed by its modern details and outstanding quality in design technology.

The success of SQi in winning this award is clear evidence of the innovation and quality carried by Niu in presenting better and more sophisticated mobility solutions.
