JPO Iron Plates In Cengkareng Often Disappear, City Government Must Install CCTV
JAKARTA - The case of the disappearance of the iron plate of the pedestrian bridge (JPO) Sahabat on Jalan Raya Daan Mogot, Cengkareng District, West Jakarta received the spotlight from a member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, William A Sarana. William urged the DKI Jakarta Highways Agency to install CCTV cameras in anticipation of street crimes in the JPO Sahabat area.
"If this happens repeatedly, CCTV must be installed there," William said when confirmed, Friday, August 4.
William also suggested that the JPO be replaced with Pelican Crossing or Zebra Cross in anticipation of theft crimes. Pelican Crossing is also considered more friendly than using JPO, but in practice it is not effective enough for the community.
"There is no need for expensive treatment and residents are not tired. In addition, the crossing is also more friendly for people with disabilities and pregnant women," he said.
William appealed to the West Jakarta Highways Sub-dept. to conduct periodic examinations of the JPO, which is deemed inappropriate.
"There must be periodic inspections of public facilities in Jakarta. There is also an effective JPO evaluation that is not used by local residents," he said.
Previously, it was reported that the lack of supervision by the West Jakarta City Government of public facilities such as the People's Crossing Bridge (JPO) turned out to be detrimental to the community of road users.
