The Tower Of The Great Mosque Will Be The First Highest Building In Medan
Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution said the tower of the Great Mosque next to the North Sumatra Governor's office would be the first highest building in Medan with a height of 125 meters.
"Alhamdulillah, soon we will issue the permit for the building of the Great Mosque tower. Yesterday we couldn't because it was related to the height permit," Bobby said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 2.
This, he said, followed the withdrawal of the flight operation safety area (KKOP) in the Soewondo Air Base (Lanud) area of Medan.
Soewondo Medan Air Base on the land of the former Polonia International Airport is a 15 kilometer flight area where there should be no tall buildings or a maximum of 50 meters.
Not only the tower of the Great Mosque, but developers and business actors in the property sector in Medan City have been able to build buildings with a height of more than 50 meters.
"Yesterday I asked the regional secretary and the Medan City Perkim, Cipta Karya and Spatial Planning Office to quickly issue the permit, because this has been eagerly awaited and processed," said Bobby Nasution.

The mayor also asked for prayers and support from the entire community of Medan City so that the construction of the 125-meter-high mosque tower can be realized immediately.
"After we issue the permit, hopefully in the near future, the construction of the Great Mosque tower will be carried out immediately by the construction committee," he said.
The construction of the Great Mosque on Jalan Diponegoro Medan began on January 15, 2016 with the laying of the first stone by the Minister of Religion Lukman Hakim Saifuddin.
The total budget needed for the construction of the Great Mosque, which became the icon of North Sumatra, amounted to Rp450 billion.
"Because the construction has been eagerly awaited," said the Mayor of Medan.
