ACEH - The Banda Aceh Regional I Construction Services Center of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) stated that Aceh Province needed as many as 19 thousand certified construction service workers.Head of the Banda Aceh Regional I Construction Services Center, Indra Suhada, said that currently 7,125 construction service workers in Aceh have been certified, while the needs are 26 thousand people."Currently, Aceh still lacks 19 thousand certified construction services. Meanwhile, there are only 7,125 certified construction service workers available," he said in Banda Aceh, Antara, Friday, July 28.According to Indra, the need for certified construction service workers is based on a study, of which Rp1 trillion in the government budget requires 14,000 workers. In Aceh, construction services financed by the provincial government reached IDR 1.9 trillion. Of the total budget, it is known that the need for certified construction service workers is 26 thousand.Indra Suhada said that currently the construction service workforce in Aceh has reached 140 thousand people. However, only 7,125 people have been certified. The rest, as many as 133 thousand people have not been declared competent or certified."Every construction service project financed by the government is required to use certified labor. So, it takes hard work from all parties to produce certified construction service workers in Aceh to prevent the entry of foreign workers," he said. Therefore, Indra Suhada invites all stakeholders in Aceh to jointly overcome the shortage of certified construction service workers, which totals tens of thousands of people. The task of producing certified construction service workers is not only the responsibility of the government, but also companies or providers who employ them by giving them the opportunity to take competency tests.
"The more workers are certified in the construction service sector, the better the quality of the work produced. And this has an impact on the welfare of the community," said Indra Suhada.
