JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) said that it had completed 87 National Strategic Projects (PSN) from the 125 PSN target mandated by the Coordinating Ministry (Kemenko) for the Economy.

"Alhamdulillah, we have completed 87 PSNs by July 2023, 70 percent of the total set targets," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono at the 'Conference on National Strategic Projects (PSN)' event in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 26.

The 87 PSNs that have been completed consist of 36 dams, 2 irrigation projects, 27 toll roads, 4 non-toll roads, 3 drinking water supply systems (SPAM), 7 housing projects, 7 national cross-border gates (PLBN), and 1 education infrastructure.

Basuki said that his party has set 24 PSN projects that must be completed in 2023. The target projects include 15 dams, 5 toll roads, 2 housing projects, 1 irrigation, and 1 industrial area development.

One of the projects targeted for completion this year is 5 toll road projects that include the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road, the Cimanggis-Cibitung Toll Road, the Pasuruan-Probolinggo Toll Road, the Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road, and the Cinere-Jagorawi Toll Road.

Next, for 15 dam projects, namely the Keureuto Dam and Rukoh in Aceh, Lausimeme in North Sumatra, Margatiga in Lampung, Karian in Banten, Cipanas and Leuwikeris in West Java, Jlantah in Central Java, Sidan in Bali, Sepaku Semoi in East Kalimantan.

Furthermore, there is the Temef Dam in East Nusa Tenggara, Tiu S untuk di Nusa Tenggara Barat, Ameroro di Sulawesi Tenggara, Pamukkulu di Sulawesi Selatan, dan Lolak di Sulawesi Utara.

In addition to dams, the Ministry of PUPR is also targeting the completion of irrigation projects in the South Sumatra Irrigation Area.

According to Basuki, in order to be able to build effective public infrastructure, it is necessary to pay attention to two aspects.

First, in infrastructure development, prioritizing the infrastructure needed by the community. Second, there needs to be prioritization in terms of implementation.

"This infrastructure is the foundation of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy in designing economic growth in Indonesia, whatever is designed if there is no infrastructure, it will only be ideas," he said.
