The Dilemma Of Police Officers Taking Action On Children Perpetrators Of Brawl: Law Enforcement Is Not A Way For Those Who Have A Future
Various brawls between groups of teenagers in the Central Jakarta area are still happening. Not a few people died due to brawls. Ironically, many victims of minors.
Like what happened on Jalan Mangga Dua Selatan, Sawah Besar District, Central Jakarta. As a result of the brawl, one junior high school student with the initials RZ (14) died. The victim suffered stab wounds to the head, thighs and chest.
Responding to the phenomenon of teenage brawls that are becoming a bad trend, Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Komarudin emphasized that the main factor was the brawl between groups of teenagers due to poor interaction factors in their environment.
"Many factors influence the occurrence of brawls, social inequality factors are sometimes not one of the main factors. Why? Because sometimes those involved in brawls are also from among the children. (the main cause of brawls) I am more about the social factor. Association with young people is now existence looking for identity," said Kombes Komarudin when confirmed by VOI, Thursday, July 13.
The social gap factor as a trigger for brawls between groups of teenagers has now shifted. The main cause of the youth brawl, mostly due to the impact of wrong relationships.
"Many of them have been secured, it turns out that their parents are capable, meaning we can't only see from the social gap factor," he said.
Kombes Komarudin explained the importance of parental supervision of their children's teenagers while at home and the surrounding environment.
In fact, he continued, the first person to form a character in a school educational institution is the teacher's responsibility. Then at home, the one who educates parents.
"Just look at the hours, where is he more. How many hours at school, how many hours at home, how many hours in the neighborhood. In that environment, it is one of the factors that forms a person's character to be private (characterized)," he explained.

Meanwhile, the vulnerability of the age (underage) of teenage brawlers is also a dilemma for the police in taking firm action and action.
Kombes Komarudin said law enforcement is not the only way that must be done. Because many people think that (the brawlers) are mostly minors.
"For us to enforce law enforcement in accordance with the provisions of the applicable laws, it is considered very difficult for them. Because they are of the view that they still have a future, do not decide (school education) and so on," he said.
Even though they collide with children's rights, the National Police still has to provide a deterrent effect or at least anticipate juvenile brawls with various things.
"There must be steps to respond to the phenomenon of brawls. I prefer to narrow their space for movement. One of them is by recording (videos and photos) suspicious teenagers' activities. All I need is record them," he concluded.
