Coinbase Wallet Users Can Now Exchange Messages And Send Direct Coins On The App
JAKARTA - Coinbase announced a new feature that allows Coinbase Wallet users to send messages directly to each other, using their Ethereum identities.
"Today, we are announcing a new way to engage with the crypto community with built-in messaging on Coinbase Wallet supported by the XMTP protocol," the company wrote in an announcement on its blog on Wednesday, July 12.
With this feature, Coinbase hopes its users can connect directly, engage with communities, send payments in thousands of coins, and also have conversations by providing full control and ownership of your identity and chat.

According to the post, certain wallet users can now send messages to the usernames cb.id,.eth, or Lens each. This feature was launched for the first time to all users who scanned QR codes from blog posts or those with Lens profiles.
Coinbase stated that one of the motivations for launching this messaging feature is to reduce fraud in the crypto community. Because users don't need to rely on other platforms, where the identity of the recipient Web3 may not be verifiable.
"There is no need to guess whether a person's social profile matches his wallet. Eliminate unnecessary risks and potential losses with messaging assistance," he added.

To start this feature, you need a Coinbase Wallet mobile app and a.lens account, or receive an invitation via a QR code. Once you download or import your wallet, you will find your inbox located on the 'Aset' tab in the Coinbase Wallet app.
To send crypto assets, you only need to start a chat, select the "+" symbol to determine the amount of USDC you want to send with the network, then confirm the transaction in the message.
"We will continue to build towards a future where comfort, security, and anonymity can coexist harmoniously, changing the way we interact with others," Coinbase concluded.
