Due To Mistakes In The Light System, Ducati Pulls Back Panigale V2
JAKARTA - Usually, the vehicle recall campaign is carried out by car manufacturers, but this time, the Italian motorcycle company, Ducati, carried out a recall.
Ducati issued a recall for the Panigale V2 unit in North America. The number of affected vehicles reached 3,315 units, which is about five percent of the total population.
Reporting from the RideApart page, Monday, July 10, this recall was made due to an error in the software that can activate the Light Position Lamp (DRL) when driving at night.
Of course, this error could potentially cause accidents for Panigale V2 users. This problem has actually occurred since February 2023.
At the time, some of these motorcycle owners complained about an error in the automatic light switch on the instrument panel in several units of Panigale V2. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report also noted that similar complaints also surfaced in areas other than the United States, such as China, Japan, Spain, and the UK.
This motorcycle user reports that setting the background light on the instrument panel suddenly changes to day-to-day mode when used at night, although it should be in automatic mode.
Ducati then conducted an internal investigation and found an error in the calibration of the photodiode software on the instrument panel. Photodiodes are responsible for setting the back light of the instrument panel and DRL.
The affected Panigale V2 is produced between December 4, 2019 and May 23, 2023, with vehicle identification numbers from ZDMHAATW0LB000230 to ZDMHAATWXP012777, not sequentially.
To prevent unwanted problems, Ducati advises users to change the light settings manually via a switchgear located on the left handlebar. By doing this, users can make sure the vehicle lights are turned on properly at night.
