One Foreigner From Spain Found Selamat Usai Terret Ombak Di Panjang Bridge Beach Malang

JAKARTA - The joint team found one foreigner (foreign national), Ana Brieva Ramirez (24) in a safe condition after being dragged by the waves on Panjang Bridge Beach, Bantar District, Malang Regency, East Java.

Head of Public Relations of Malang Police, Iptu Ahmad Taufik, in Malang Regency, Sunday, July 9, said that Ana was found by a joint team at around 10.45 WIB on Bantol Beach or approximately 4.77 Nautical Mile (NM) from the location of the incident.

"The victim, on behalf of Ana from Spain, was found safe at around 10:45 WIB by a joint team that conducted a search," said Taufik, as quoted by Antara.

For information, five tourists who visited Panjang Bridge Beach, located in Sumber Bening Village, Bantar District, were reported to have been swept away by the waves on Saturday, July 8 at approximately 08.00 WIB. Two of the five tourists are foreigners.

The search for victims was carried out by a joint team from a number of parties such as the Water and Air Police Unit (Satpolairud) and the Malang Police Bantir Police, TNI, Bantar District Leadership Deliberation (Muspika), the potential for local SAR and Surabaya Basarnas.

Taufik explained, after being evacuated to the mainland, the victim who was adrift in the southern waters of Malang Regency for more than 24 hours was then taken to the local health center for medical treatment.

According to him, the health condition of the Spanish citizen was monitored by a team of doctors from Universitas Brawijaya. Ana is one of the participants of the student exchange program at the university in a series of activities of the Center for International Student Association (CIMSA).

"Currently, the person concerned has been evacuated to the search post, safe and conscious. Handled by the medical team, and is still under close supervision," he said.

He added that previously, on Saturday (8/7) at approximately 18.30 WIB, another victim who was also dragged by a wave called M Ruspandi or Pendik was also found safe approximately 0.5 miles from the location of the incident.

Currently, he continued, the joint team is still trying to search for the three other victims who have not been found. The three victims had the initials JOS, 24 years old, Swiss national, and two others, namely M and B, Indonesian citizens.

"The team is still trying to search for the other three victims," he said.

Previously, as many as five tourists were reported to have been dragged by the waves on Panjang Bridge Beach, on Saturday at approximately 08.00 WIB. Two of the five people who were dragged by the waves were foreigners with female gender.

The incident began when the two foreigners had difficulty pulling over while swimming on the Panjang Bridge Beach. Three Indonesian citizens who are tour guides namely M, B and Pendik or M Ruspandi are trying to help the two foreigners.

However, at the time it was going to help the two foreigners, a big wave hit them and in the end the five people were dragged into the middle of the sea. Two of the five victims were found safe, namely Pendik and Ana Ramirez.
