Disaster In Lumajang, Khofifah Ensures All Teams And Assistance Have Moved To Location

Responding to the situation of cold lava floods and landslides that occurred in Pronojiwo and Candipuro sub-districts, Lumajang Regency, the East Java Provincial government distributed logistical assistance and medicines to disaster sites.

The Governor of East Java (Jatim) Khofifah Indar Parawansa in a written statement in Surabaya, Saturday, explained that the assistance distributed by the East Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) included 2,000 sandbags, 100 food packages, 10 hoes, and 10 shovels.

"In addition, the East Java Social Service also deployed 135 personnel from Tagana and volunteers from Disaster Alert Village. They will help clean up a number of points affected by landslides and cold lava floods in Pronojiwo District, Tempursari District and Candipuro District, Lumajang," he said, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, July 8.

The East Java Social Service also sent assistance in the form of buffer stock to start public kitchen services, as well as sleeping equipment for 30 heads of families (KK).

The former Minister of Social Affairs stated that the Office of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection and East Java Population also sent additional assistance in the form of women's completeness as many as 200 packages.

The East Java Health Office also dispatched a team and brought medicines at two points, namely Candipuro and Pronojiwo.

"They have prepared health posts at evacuation points, conducted Rapid Health Assessment (RHA), alerted a team of doctors and nurses, and rubber boats," he said.

Governor Khofifah ensured that all teams had moved to the field led by the Head of the East Java BPBD who was ex-officio as Regional Secretary of East Java Province, Adhy Karyono.

There were 571 people displaced in several refugee points in Pronojiwo and Candipuro sub-districts, Lumajang, including the Tumpeng Village Hall, Jarit Village Hall, Penanggal Village Hall, Jarit Village Wani Gosong House Community, Tambakrejo Village Hall, Pronojiwo Village Hall, and residents' houses at the Salak Statue.

Governor Khofifah said to provide food for affected residents who fled, Tagana East Java established a public kitchen at the Jarit Village Hall, Candipuro District, Lumajang.

"To accompany and assist residents in the evacuation camps, 60 volunteers have been deployed consisting of Tagana, Disaster Preparedness Village, and village officials," he concluded.
