Bogor Mayor Bima Arya Asks PPDB Zoning System To Be Evaluated

BOGOR - Mayor of Bogor, West Java Bima Arya Sugiarto asked the zoning system for admission of new students (PPDB) in schools to be evaluated to minimize fraud by manipulating population data and child identity points on nearby family cards.

Bima Arya conducted a surprise inspection of the Bogor City Education Office, Friday, saying that he would immediately submit input to evaluate the PPDB zoning to the central government, especially the Ministry of Education and Culture.

"I will convey to the minister of education and the president to evaluate zoning," Bima said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 7.

According to Bima, the facts on the ground in the world of education are currently not ready to implement a zoning system because there are still opportunities for fraud, including population and infrastructure problems.

"We are not ready for the system for zoning. When the population data system can still be multiplied and also the education infrastructure is not evenly distributed," he said.

Bima Arya has been receiving complaints from the public for several days regarding PPDB fraud that occurred at public schools in Bogor City. The news of the fraud went viral on social media, causing the Bogor City Government to open a complaint service.

As of Thursday (6/7), the Bogor City Government received complaints from the public regarding PPDB fraud that entered through various channels provided reaching 300.

Bima also followed up on the complaint by conducting a surprise inspection of SMPN 1 Bogor City, SMAN 1 Bogor City which is next to each other, the Population and Civil Registration Service (Disdukcapil) and the Bogor City Education Office (Disdik) on Friday (7/7).

As a result, Bima and his staff found violations that occurred, such as factual verification that was not carried out by schools, manipulation of family cards (KK) and entrusted the identity of the child to the nearest school family, even though he did not live in the area.

Therefore, the Bogor City Government formed a special team to dismantle the new student admission broker (PPDB) to ensure that at the time of the announcement the acceptance was postponed from Monday (10/7) to Tuesday (11/7) the student data received according to zoning regulations.

The special team consists of the inspectorate, assistant parts of the government, Kadisdukcapil, Kadisdik and six existing sub-district heads.
