Welcoming Jokowi At Ewer Airport, Asmat Leaders Hope To Accelerate Development In South Papua
PAPUA SELATAN - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) paid a working visit to Asmat Regency, South Papua Province, Thursday, July 6. Arriving at Ewer Airport, the head of state was greeted by Asmat residents.
Asmat community leader, Rofinus Yuutmbai, said he was happy with the President's second visit to the area known as his thigh art.
"We hope that the President's arrival can accelerate development in this area, including other areas in the Land of Papua," said Rufinus at Ewer Airport, South Papua, Thursday, July 6, which was confiscated by Antara.
He said, with the inauguration of Ewer Airport by the President, in the future more planes will enter so that Asmat will grow.
Asmat is known to foreign countries for carving wood. Even local governments organize Asmat cultural festivals every year by displaying carvings of craftsmen, said Rufinus Yuutmbai.

President Jokowi inaugurated Ewer Airport in Agats District, Asmat Regency, South Papua Province, today Thursday 6 July.
Ewer Airport has a runway with a length of 1,650 m and a width of 30 m which can serve the operations of ATR 72-600 aircraft for passengers and cargo. The apron is 70 m x 90 m and taxiway is 86 m x 15 m.
Currently, Ewer Airport serves Kamur Ewer (pp), Merauke Ewer (pp) and Timika Ewer (pp) flight routes operated by 3 airlines, namely Wings Air, Trigana Air and Smart Aviation.
