Remind The Police To Be More Professional, Puan: Don't Wait For It To Go Viral When Handling Cases
JAKARTA - DPR Speaker Puan Maharani reminded the National Police to continue to be professional in carrying out their duties and functions. They must be able to enforce the law to maintain public order.
This was conveyed by Puan at the moment of the 77th Anniversary of the National Police today, Saturday, July 1. The Bhayangkara Corps is expected to be more disciplined and professional.
"Increase discipline and professionalism in serving and maintaining public security," said Puan in a written statement.
With more professionalness, the National Police is believed to be able to carry out their duties well. Including when facing the political year.
"So that the 2024 General Election can take place safely, peacefully, and happily," said the chairman of the PDIP DPP.
Not only that, the National Police are asked to improve internally. Evaluation must be carried out especially over the past year, said Puan.
The National Police is also reminded to be firm and not selective in handling legal cases, including those that ensnare their own members. "Of course this requires commitment from within the Police itself," he said.

With this firmness, it is hoped that public trust, which had gone down recently, could move up again.
"So there is no impression of sharp law downwards. The DPR hopes that the Police will prioritize human values in dealing with cases of the legalities of the small people who really need protection from law enforcers," said Puan.
"The public hopes that the Police can work openly, full of justice, and swiftly for all law enforcement without waiting for the viral incident first," he concluded.
