Pushidrosal's New Ship Equipped With German Technology

JAKARTA - The Commander of the Indonesian Navy's Hydro-Oceanography Center (Danpushidrosal) Vice Admiral TNI Nurhidayat conveyed that the latest survey ship that will strengthen Pushidrosal uses the latest German-made technology.

Danpushidrosal said the ship made by PT Palindo Marine Shipyard, Batam, was equipped with a set of German-made technology to become more modern.

"In the future in 2025, hopefully before it is finished. The ship was built by Palindo Batam, then to make it more modern, because there are equipment that must be installed, and it was made from Germany so that it was built there and then installed the equipment including its computer so that later it will be brought to Indonesia in a ready state," said Danpushidrosal Laksdya TNI Nurhidayat as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 21.

State-of-the-art technology survey ships are needed by the Indonesian Navy's Hydro-Oceanography Center to support their duties, namely creating an undersea map of Indonesia with an area of 6.4 million square kilometers.

"I hope that by 2025 it will be completed so that it can strengthen our defense equipment so that how 6.4 million square kilometers can be mapped properly, not only everything is finished, but must be done many times because the adabstacle (difficults) change, especially at sea," said Nurhidayat.

He conveyed that Pushidrosal can also collaborate with other institutions such as the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) which also has underwater survey ships.

"Incidentally, there are colleagues from BRIN who can buy our (ship)welcome, later we can operate together. The data they get can be assessed first and then be a map (undersea)," said Danpushydrosal.

Currently, there are five research ships under BRIN, namely the Baruna Jaya I Research Ship (KR), KR Baruna Jaya II, KR Baruna Jaya III, KR Baruna Jaya IV, and KR Baruna Jaya VIII. KR Baruna Jaya I made by the French CMN shipyard became the oldest considering that he was more than 30 years old, while the youngest KR Baruna Jaya VIII was made at the shipyard Mjellem & Karlsen in Norway in 1998.

Meanwhile, Pushidrosal is currently reinforced by two survey ships, namely the Republic of Indonesia (KRI) Rigel-933 and KRI Spica-934. Both were made at the OCEA Dossier shipyard in Les Sables d'Olonne, France, in 2015.

We are trying to do this well. There are two of our new ships (KRI Rigel and KRI Spica), both of whom departed. They only rest for 1 month on land, in Jakarta, then leave in 2 months, they will rest again. So, because our ship is limited," said Laksdya Nurhidayat.
