Trade Minister Zulhas Leads The Destruction Of 3 Countries Imported Goods Worth IDR 13.31 Billion
JAKARTA - Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan led the destruction of items found by monitoring the import trade system outside the customs area (post border) which was not in accordance with the provisions. The value of the goods reached Rp13.31 billion.
This large supervisory work was carried out by the Directorate General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (PKTN) of the Ministry of Trade. This firm effort was carried out in order to provide a deterrent effect to business actors who did not comply with the applicable rules and regulations. The destruction was carried out in the Keroncong Industrial Estate, Tangerang, Banten on Friday, June 9.
The destruction activity was also witnessed by the Head of the Industry and Trade Office of Banten Province, Babar Soeharso, and the Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Rahmat Subagyo.
In addition, representatives from Polda Metro Jaya, Polda Banten, and the Banten High Prosecutor's Office were also present.
Also accompanying the Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan Plt. Director General of PKTN Moga Simatupang and Expert Staff for Management and Governance Veri Anggriono.
"The Ministry of Trade through the Niagga Bekasi Orderly Supervision Center has supervised imported trading procedures outside the customs (post border) area in West Java and Banten for the January-May 2023 period. There are six importers who have received sanctions in the form of destroying goods with a total customs value of Rp13.31 billion," he said in an official statement, Friday, June 9.
Zulhas, as Zulkifli Hadan is familiarly called, said that the commodities destroyed include food and beverage products, traditional medicines and health supplements, forestry products, and copper busbar (plates).
"These products come from Thailand, China, and India," he said.
Zulhas explained that the violation committed by the importers was that they did not have a surveyor report document and/or the exception, did not have an import approval document, and did not have a Goods Registration Number (NPB) document.
Post-border supervision is carried out based on the Regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 25 of 2022 concerning Import Policies and Regulations, through an inspection of the suitability between import permits owned by business actors and imported goods.
"The examination was carried out after goods left the customs area with the aim of encouraging the acceleration of business and investment in Indonesia," he said.

This decisive step was taken, Zulhas continued, to provide a deterrent effect to business actors.
Illegal goods harm the country and disrupt the domestic economy.
"This time, the destruction of goods is expected to provide a deterrent effect for business actors who do not comply with import-related regulations, namely Permendag Number 25 of 2022," said the Trade Minister.
