WEST PESISIR - A number of residents in Pekon (Village) Pepihan, Bangkunat District, Pesisir Barat Regency, Lampung, were forced to cross the river to carry the bodies to be buried because there was no bridge to the cemetery.
Peratin or the Village Head of Pekon Pepihan Subantoro, confirmed the events that were widely circulated on social media.
In the amateur video footage belonging to the residents, a group of residents can be seen accompanying the bodies crossing the river to the cemetery.
"Yes, that's right, some time ago our residents had crossed the river to deliver the bodies to the cemetery, because there was no bridge," he said.
He explained that this incident was not the first time, but residents of the leadership had often crossed their families' bodies for burial.

"This is not the first time, it has often even been overturned and random," he said.
He said that previously his party had applied for assistance to the provincial government for the construction of bridges, so that people would no longer have to cross the river to deliver the bodies of their families.
Subantoro also hopes that the local government can immediately respond to complaints from the public, and immediately build a connecting bridge to the burial site.
"Our hope is, yes, hopefully the Central or local governments will see the complaints of the local community," he said.
