Vice President Asks Ministry Of Agriculture And Institutions To Achieve 57 Percent IPP Targets By 2024

JAKARTA - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked ministries/agencies to pursue the achievement of the target of the Youth Development Index (IPP) in 2024 of 57.67 percent.

This was conveyed by the Vice President in his introduction to the Ministerial Level Meeting on Strategic Coordination of the Cross-Sector for the Implementation of Youth Services as well as the Launching of Presidential Decree 43 of 2022 concerning Strategic Coordination of the Cross-Sector for the Implementation of Youth Services, at the Vice Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday 30 May.

"There are several notes. First, the achievement of the Youth Development Index (IPP) in 2020 is 51 percent or a decrease compared to 2019 of 52.8 percent. Although this decline is the impact of the pandemic, we must catch up with the IPP which is in our 2020-2024 RPJMN targeted for 57.67 in 2024," said the Vice President, quoted by ANTARA.

The vice president said the IPP concerns five domains that all deserve attention, namely education, welfare and health, field and job opportunities, participation and leadership, as well as gender and discrimination.

According to BPS data, in 2022 there will be 65.82 million people in the youth age group (16 to 30 years long) or 24 percent of the total population.

However, based on the results of the August 2022 National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas), the Youth Open unemployment rate (TPT) reached 13.93 percent, which means that around 14 out of 100 youth workforces are not absorbed in the labor market.

"This condition must be a concern for the central and regional governments. It takes strategic steps from ministries/agencies to utilize all potentials, both to improve youth service activities, synchronize and programs and study activities for organizing youth as well as of course other breakthroughs," he said.

The vice president asked the minister and the head of the institution to report their readiness and commitment in supporting the implementation of strategic coordination across the youth organization sector in 2023-2024.

"For this reason, I ask the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture to report the results of general coordination as well as the Minister of Youth and Sports to explain the implementation of Presidential Decree 43, then other ministers, as well as heads of institutions," he said.

Also attending the meeting were Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo, Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Teten Masduki, Deputy Minister of Religion Zainut Tauhid, and Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono.
