Chasing Tesla, Mercedes Will Develop EVs With F1 Team Technology
JAKARTA - The more advanced the development of electric vehicles, the more automotive manufacturers release electric cars with innovative technology, long-range, and reasonable prices.
In the last decade, Tesla has proven they are able to dominate the electric vehicle segment. Not only does it offer the design of a good model variant, but the level of efficiency and performance of the car is also above average.
This is what makes Mercedes have to step further in the development of electric cars. Mercedes-Benz can also hope that the race in developing electric vehicles can be as high as Tesla.
Mercedes intends to use technology from the Formula One racing team to accelerate the development time of their electric cars. It aims to produce efficient electric vehicles and cut time.
"We have an advantage with the Formula One team that other manufacturers don't have, including Tesla, don't have it," said Markus Schaefer, Mercedes Chief Technology.
Although the German manufacturer has launched several EV models, they do not yet have more efficient models such as Tesla Model 3 and the electric crossover, the Tesla Model Y.

Mercedes also has plans to use some of their F1 team concepts and developments for the new EV platform to start production in 2024.
