Good Friday At The Cathedral Church Filled With Thousands Of People
JAKARTA - Thousands of Catholics from various regions visited Maria Church Lifted to Heaven, on Cathedral Street number 7, Central Jakarta, to attend Good Friday service today.
The chairman of the Interfaith and Community Relations (HAAK) section of the Cathedral, Christophorus, who was accompanied by JB Edy Sarwono on Friday, explained that today's Good Friday service was divided into three sessions. The first session at 12.00 WIB which was held offline, the second and third sessions were held at 15.00 WIB and at 18.00 WIB which was held in a hybrid manner.
Previously, the Way of the Cross which took place at 09.00 WIB featured a drama or tablo of the story of the miserable crossing of Jesus Christ which was performed by the Young Catholics (OMK) of the Jakarta Cathedral.
The liturgy color of Good Friday is red, because it symbolizes the fire of love, Christ's blood, and sacrifice. However, the liturgy color is not a special dress provision for the people who attended the commemoration of Jesus' death at the Cross Wood.
In the Catholic trust, Jesus was crossed on Friday. That's why the day is called Good Friday. In addition, Good Friday is also known as Holy Friday or Black Friday.
Good Friday is an important day in the Catholic calendar, as it marks the Easter week and the peak of the Holy Week. Good Friday is a day of mourning and reflection for Catholics around the world in memory of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and his suffering on the cross.

The Cathedral Church has prepared tents and thousands of chairs around the church. All seats seemed to be filled with people, some even came two hours before mass started to get a seat.
In carrying out a series of worship activities, the Cathedral Church continues to apply health protocols, so that people who worship are required to wear masks.
Meanwhile, as many as 110 joint officers of the TNI, Polri, Satpol PP and Gegana were deployed to secure the Tri Holy Day service at the Cathedral Church.
