Defendant In The Case Of The Free Divonis Kanjuruhan Stadium, Student Alliance Threatens Massive Demo

MALANG - Students who are members of the Kanjuruhan Wind Student Alliance (AMPAK) plan to hold a massive demonstration. This action is carried out if the legal process of the Kanjuruhan tragedy is really deadlocked and does not fulfill justice for the victims.

"Yes, we are still consolidating by utilizing technological sophistication, because these friends come from various universities in Malang and other areas in Indonesia," said M. Djibril, a doctoral student of Informatics Engineering through a written statement, Monday, March 20.

He admitted that this action was based on concern over the trial of the Kanjuruhan case at the Surabaya District Court (PN). As is known, the two defendant police officers were acquitted with one of the judge's considerations because of the 'wind direction that changed the tear gas'.

"For those of you who are sane, what would you think if the defendant who caused 135 people to die was very light? It's a pity if the wind is also blamed," asked Emde, his nickname.

According to him, the current process of law enforcement of the Kanjuruhan tragedy has failed to provide justice for victims. He said, not to mention the B model report at the Malang Police which has no clarity.

"We all know that the tear gas shooters were police but were not investigated and the investigation process was not transparent," he explained.

He also hopes that law enforcement institutions and the government will take responsibility from the parties involved.

"We urge the judiciary of this case to be fair, open and independent. President Jokowi seems to have issued a Perppu, so that there are external investigators other than the National Police in cases of criminal violations by the apparatus," he said.
