Avril Lavigne's Performance At Juno Awards Was Disturbed By Topless Protester

JAKARTA - Avril Lavigne's performance at the Canadian Juno Awards was disturbed by topless protesters who went on stage.

At the award ceremony that was held last Monday, Avril was introducing a performance when a shirtless protester appeared behind her.

Facing away from Avril and the camera, the protester's back was emblazoned with a message.

"Save the green belt," it read, in protest at the government's plans to build new housing in Ontario on protected land.

As CBC News reported, Avril told the protesters: "Go away," and then referred to the incident again while accepting the award.

“Now no one is trying anything. I will throw her out.”

At the Juno Awards this time, The Weeknd became the artist with the second most trophies in the award's history by winning Album of the Year for Dawn FM.

Meanwhile, Nickelback was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
