People Asked To Stay Away From Hazardous Areas, 5-7 Km From The Peak Of Mount Merapi
MAGELANG - The eruption of Mount Merapi that occurred since Saturday, March 11, at 12.12 WIB in the form of lava avalanches accompanied by hot clouds that caused volcanic ash in several areas of Magelang Regency, including Dukun and Srumbung Districts.
The police, TNI, volunteers and all stakeholders moved quickly to help the community, such as distributing masks, cleaning roads, medicines, and providing socialization to affected residents.
Based on information from the Geological Geological Gempatan Research and Development Center (BPPTKG) that the impact of this merapi eruption is recommended so that people do not carry out activities in dangerous areas, namely 5-7 km from the peak of Merapi. Because lava avalanches and hot clouds several times still occur after the eruption with varying sliding distances and it is very dangerous.
Responding to this right, the Magelang Police and the TNI and volunteers care about the eruption until today, Monday, March 13, continue to conduct socialization using Polsek patrol vehicles in the Dukun sub-district with an appeal to the public to remain calm, wear masks when leaving the house due to the impact of volcanic ash.
The public is also advised not to carry out activities in areas that have been designated dangerous with a certain radius from the peak of the merapi, and to continue to follow the development of information related to the dynamics of the eruption of Merapi.
"Since the first day of the eruption that occurred until now Monday, March 13, there have been dozens of eruptions in the form of lava avalanches and hot clouds, causing volcanic ash that can be seen above the peak and slopes of Mount Merapi. Volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Merapi that spread has an impact on the community around the slopes of Merapi, especially residential residents and the agricultural sector. So that people are advised not to panic and to stay alert and stay away from the location within the 7 km radius of the peak of Merapi," said the guard of the Mount Merapi Observation Post Babadan Yulianto, Monday, March 13 through a written statement.
With the situation of Merapi which is still dynamic until now the Magelang Police and Kodim 0705 Magelang have also put up an appeal to the public regarding the prohibition of any activities in dangerous areas, namely the Bebeng River Lane and the White River Lane in the Srumbung District. As is known, the two rivers are included in the flow of hot clouds from the peak of Merapi.
"The two river flows are very dangerous for their activities, so it is recommended to the community with a radius of 7 km not to carry out any activities in the two river lanes," explained Magelang Police Chief Kombes Pol Ruruh Wicaksono.
