Prosecutor Detains Corruption Suspect In Manado PDAM Asset Management

MANADO - The High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) of North Sulawesi (Sulut) has detained a suspect in a suspected corruption case related to the cooperation and management of PDAM Manado City assets with PT Air Manado from 2005 to 2021.

"The investigation team at the Aspidus Attorney's Office of North Sulawesi has detained the suspect JTS alias Joko who is suspected of committing a criminal act of corruption," said Head of Penkum Penkum Attorney General's Office of North Sulawesi Theodorus Rumampuk reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 1.

He said the suspect JTS alias Joko was suspected of jointly, with suspects HR, FT, and JW, as well as acting separately against the law, abusing authority.

The suspect JTS alias Joko acted as the initiator in the Clean Water Management Cooperation Agreement (PKS) in Manado City without first making a study in accordance with applicable regulations.

In fact, the suspects included people who actively played a role in urging the implementation of the Cooperation agreement between the Manado City Government, PDAM Manado, and BPTS Trita Sulawesi/WMD causing a loss of state finances of € 936,000 (nine hundred thirty-six thousand euros) and IDR 55,964,456,755 (fifty-five billion nine hundred sixty-four million four hundred fifty-six thousand seven hundred and fifty-five rupiah).

JTS alias Joko was named a suspect on February 2, 2023, based on the Warrant for the Determination of the Suspect Number Print-203/P.1/Fd.1/02/2023.

JTS alias Joko was named a suspect because he was strongly suspected of committing a crime and met two sufficient pieces of evidence.

The suspect's actions allegedly violated Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law No. 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption as amended and added by Law no. 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law no. 31 of 1999 concerning the eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

The suspect JTS alias Joko was detained by investigators with the following considerations, the article being alleged allows the suspect to be detained because of a sentence of over five years.

The suspect was feared that he would run away, repeat the crime, destroy evidence, and the suspect was not cooperative in giving information during the interrogation.

The suspect JTS alias Joko was detained at the Malendeng Prison in Manado based on the Detention Warrant for the Head of the North Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office Number: PRINT-438/P.1.5/Fd.1/03/2023 dated 1 March 2023 for 20 days from 1-20 March 2023.
