Using The Pink Rompi Of AGO Prisoners, Surya Darmadi Ready To Live A Decision Session Today At The Corruption Court
JAKARTA - The boss of PT Duta Palma Group, Surya Darmadi, is undergoing a verdict hearing on the alleged corruption of the plantation palm oil licensing business in Indragiri, Riau.
Surya arrived at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor), at around 10.45 WIB, Thursday, February 23. Surya wore a pink or pink prison vest entering the Kusumahatmaja Court Room and met his attorney, Juniver Girsang. In the courtroom, apart from Surya's team of attorneys, the public prosecutor's team (JPU) was also seen at the Attorney General's Office (AGO). Previously, the Public Prosecutor demanded that Surya be sentenced to life imprisonment plus a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 6 months in prison on Monday, February 6.
The prosecutor assessed that Surya was proven guilty of an act, as the first indictment of Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code, Article 3 paragraph (1) letter c of Law Number 15 of 2002 concerning the Crime of Money Laundering, as amended by Law Number 25 of 2003, and Article 3 of Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning the Prevention and Eradication of the Crime of Money Laundering.
The prosecutor assessed that Surya's actions, who is also the owner of the Darmex Group, had resulted in financial and economic losses of Rp. 78.8 trillion. In addition, Surya also committed a crime of money laundering for the 2005-2022 period. Surya Darmadi was also required to pay compensation of the amount of money she received from a criminal act. "Imposing additional punishment to the defendant Surya Darmadi to pay compensation of Rp. 4,798,706,951,640.00 and 7,885,857.36 US dollars and state economic losses of Rp. 73,920,690,300,000.00," said Attorney General M. Syarifuddin.
