Preventing 1998 Crisis, Chairman Of DPR Legislative Says Job Creation Regulation Urgently Necessary
JAKARTA - The Legislative Body of the People's Representative Council (DPR) held a plenary meeting and opinion meeting (RDPU) with experts before making a decision to accept or reject the Government Regulation in Lieu (Perppu) of Job Creation Law after the committee was formed.
Chairman of Baleg DPR RI Supratman Andi Agtas in his statement said, the aim of the RDPU with experts is to get input from all sources, the context is in a compelling crisis, namely preparing a legal umbrella so that the crisis (1998) does not happen.
"In my opinion, this is a very reasonable reason related to the urgency of the crisis contained in this Perppu," said Supratman, Wednesday, February 15.
Therefore, the politician from the Gerindra Party faction emphasized once again that differences in constitutional views are no longer debatable.
Because Supratman thinks that the Perppu is definitely constitutional where the Perppu is a right granted by law to the President under certain conditions.
"Once again, in my opinion, that is the subjective right of the President. If we agree, that is our function to objectify the subjectivity of the President. So it will depend on our respective judgments among all the existing factions," concluded Supratman.

Previously, Professor of Business Law at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Prof. Nindyo Pramono said that the urgency of imposing a Perppu can be interpreted as an anticipatory attitude and the Job Creation Perppu is an anticipatory measure for global economic conditions.
“The impact of stagflation or the global crisis has affected the national economy. Because of that, the government does not want to return to the old situation, that is, there was a crisis first and then made a law, so what is being implemented is to anticipate it," said Nindyo.
