3 Tropical Cyclone Seeds Appear, BMKG Reminds Extreme Weather For A Week

JAKARTA - Head of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Dwikorita Karnawati said a number of regions in Indonesia will experience extreme weather over the next week due to the emergence of three seeds of tropical cyclones around Indonesia.

"The emergence of these three tropical cyclone seeds can increase the growth potential of rain clouds, wind speed, and sea wave heights around the tropical cyclone area," said Dwikorita Karnawati as reported by ANTARA, Sunday, February 5.

The three tropical cyclone seeds are Tropical Cyclone Seed 94S, Tropical Cyclone Seed 95S, and Tropical Cyclone Seed 97S.

Dwikorita said the observed Tropical Cyclone 94S was in the Indian Ocean southwest of Bengkulu, with a maximum wind speed of 30 knots and a minimum air pressure of 1000.2 mb.

"This system is moving east-southeast with the potential to grow into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours which is in the moderate category," he said.

Then the 95S Tropical Cyclone Seed was monitored in the Indian Ocean south of Banten with a maximum wind speed of 20 knots and a minimum air pressure of 1004.2 mb.

The system is moving westward with the potential to grow into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours in the low category.

Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone 97S was observed in the South Indian Ocean, West Nusa Tenggara with a maximum wind speed of 20 knots and a minimum air pressure of 1002.8 mb.

"This system is moving southeast with the potential to grow into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours which is in the low category," she said.

BMKG appealed to local governments and the public to be alert and alert to extreme weather in the form of rain accompanied by strong winds.

Dwikorita said extreme weather could cause a lot of losses, both materially and immaterially and could trigger hydrometeorological disasters.
