Returned To Acting Through The Bait, Jang Keun Suk Becomes A Wild Man

JAKARTA - Jang Keun Suk returned to acting after a five-year absence in the Korean drama, The Bait. This time he plays a lawyer who turns into a detective to investigate a mysterious murder case.

Jan Keun Suk plays the role of Goo Do Han, who previously worked as a lawyer for a rich man and changed professions to become a detective following a murder case.

Goo Do-han then works with a reporter named Cheon Na-yeon (Lee Elijah) to uncover the truth.

Heo Sung-tae appears as Noh Sang-cheon, who is named as the main suspect in the murder case even though it is known that he died eight years ago after being accused of masterminding a large-scale fraud case.

Jang Keun-suk, who previously enjoyed great popularity in Asia with his roles in rom-com dramas, chose a crime thriller after a long break to show a new side of him as an actor.

"I think (Goo Do-han) will be a new challenge because it is different from my old, predictable image. I grow a mustache and try to hold back to play a wild man," he said as quoted from YonHap, Thursday, January 26.

The 36-year-old actor said five years went by too quickly as he completed his mandatory military service from 2018 to 2020 and underwent a period of refreshment afterward.

"I didn't know the break would be this long. I appreciate the script of 'The Bait' for making that time meaningful," he said.

Meanwhile, Heo Sung-tae, who played a villain in the Squid Game and Casino series, said he wanted to write a villain encyclopedia with his unforgettable character in his new work.

"I tried to control my strength. I thought acting would be a challenge because this is the epic story of Noh Sang-cheon," he said. The first two episodes of The Bait will air on Friday, December 27.
