Bluetooth Support In Stadia Controller Is Available Now!
JAKARTA - Google has finally released more details regarding the previously promised update for the Stadia controller, namely the addition of the Bluetooth feature.
Google says that this switching feature is permanent. This means that once you switch your controller to Bluetooth mode, you can't switch it back on to use Wi-Fi on Stadia. However, you can still play wired with USB in Bluetooth mode.
Google's tool for updating Stadia controllers works over the web using Chrome, so it works for Windows and macOS users without the need to download an app.
Google states that wired headphones won't work if you connect them to your Stadia Controller after applying a Bluetooth update, so you'll need to connect the headphones directly to the device the controller is paired with.
Also, the Google Assistant and Capture buttons won't work after the update either, but you may be able to map them in supported games and apps.

Once Bluetooth is enabled, you can pair your Stadia Controller by holding down the Stadia button and Y button for two seconds until the status light starts flashing orange.
This update will be available until December 31, 2023. This means that you will no longer be able to switch to Bluetooth mode if you buy the device in the next year.
Google may extend that date in the future, but if you have a Stadia Controller it's a good idea to apply the update after Google's servers shut down.
