Regardless Of Survey Results, Golkar Remains Loyal In Airlangga Candidacy
JAKARTA - Golkar Party DPP chairman Dave Laksono responded to the results of a survey by the Indonesian Survey Panel (PSI) which revealed that the Airlangga Hartarto-Ganjar Pranowo pair excelled in the presidential and vice presidential simulations compared to other candidate pairs.
Dave said that the positive survey results had nothing to do with adding to or influencing Golkar's confidence in its bid to nominate its general chairman, Airlangga, in the 2024 presidential election.
According to him, Golkar is currently focusing on efforts to socialize the party as well as Airlangga's name as the 2024 Golkar Presidential Candidate.
"So, now it's not a question of self-confidence, but of the cadres and functionaries being active and working hard to socialize Mr. Airlangga and the Golkar Party more intensely," Dave told reporters, Wednesday, January 18.
The member of Commission I of the House of Representatives emphasized that his party remains to uphold the decision to nominate Airlangga as a presidential candidate. Golkar, he said, was focusing on capitalizing and converting Airlangga's performance in the economic sector.
"We must continue to capitalize on all of Mr. Airlangga's successes, both as coordinating minister and Golkar chairman in maintaining the Indonesian economy which has received recognition and praise and awards from around the world," said Dave.
Even though it was said that the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) would nominate Ganjar Pranowo, Dave revealed that his party was still stubborn about nominating Airlangga as a presidential candidate. Dave said, space was already closed to discuss the matter.
"Golkar has already decided. Our candidate is Mr. Airlangga. There is no room for further discussion on this matter," he said.
