KPK Undaunted Against Corruptors And Their Backings

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will arrest corruptors regardless of their backing. As long as there is evidence, the criminals must be held accountable for their actions.

"Whoever and wherever, that if acts of corruption continue to be carried out, the KPK will find evidence and take action immediately," said KPK chairman Firli Bahuri as quoted from his written statement, Monday, January 16.

Firli believes his institution has the power to eradicate corruption. The KPK is also ready to deal with corruptors who feel they have the backing of powerful people.

"Because the KPK, with the power it has, knows how to execute all the actions of officials who have so far received 'backing' or guarantees from people in power," he said.

"There is no safe place for corruptors, except for the place of penance, namely the detention center," Firli continued.

KPK asked all parties to jointly eradicate corruption. "There should be no delay in the intention to clean up corruption by collective cooperation," said Firli.

"Let's look at the future of Papua which is truly prosperous, peaceful, just, and intelligent according to our national goals," he concluded.
