Good News! Amazon Plans to Build a New Streaming App for Sports Content
JAKARTA - Amazon reportedly has plans to create its own application to be used as a sports content streaming platform.
The news was first shared by The Information, citing a source with direct knowledge of the plans.
This step was apparently taken because sports are becoming a public attraction, especially in the US, where more and more people are turning to app subscriptions to watch sports content.
Amazon already owns the rights to stream games including the National Football League's Thursday Night Football franchise and Premier League football matches in the United Kingdom.
Amazon isn't the only company investing in sports content. A few weeks ago a unit of Alphabet Inc (Google) and YouTube also signed a multi-year contract to stream exclusively NFL Sunday Ticket packages in the United States.
On the other hand, according to a TechCrunch report, tech giant Apple has also acquired the rights to Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer matches.

It's unclear exactly when Amazon will launch this sports app and whether it will fit into the plans, but what is certain about the plan is that Amazon has found new ways to leverage its direct sports investments into additional revenue streams.
